Celebrate the Spirit of Earth Day Every Time You Fill Your Propane Tank

Earth Day marks its 49th trip around the sun later this month (April 22), which makes it a good time to think about ways we can tread a little more lightly on our one and only planet.

Of course, one of the best ways to do that is to fill your tank with propane – an efficient, power-packed energy source listed as a “low-polluting fuel” in the 1990 Amendments to the Clean Air Act.

Propane: The cleaner, greener fuel

If you’re looking for an Earth-friendly way to power your home without sacrificing comfort, look no further than clean, green propane gas. Using propane helps the environment by:

• Cutting emissions – Propane combustion produces less than half the greenhouse gas emissions of electricity to produce the same amount of energy. It also contains less carbon than other fossil fuels, including heating oil, gasoline, diesel, kerosene and ethanol.
• Improving efficiency – Propane-powered equipment is often more efficient – sometimes far more efficient – than electric models of similar size and output; a tankless propane water heater, for example, can save up to 50 percent on energy costs compared to a similar unit powered by electricity, according to the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC).
• Minimizing impact – Propane is not toxic and does not spill, pool, or leave a residue, which makes it harmless to soil or water in the event of a tank leak. With propane, there are no risks for long-term damage to your home or property if a leak occurs.

The bottom line: If you’re looking for a greener fuel this Earth Day and beyond, propane is a great way to go – and if you need a reliable propane supplier anywhere in our Central Maine service area, Sail Energy is the only way to go.
