Help Us Help You: Four Ways to Keep Your Propane Deliveries Coming This Winter

At Sail Energy, we take great pride in providing reliable, on-time propane delivery and heating oil delivery to customers in our Central Maine service area. But sometimes the weather makes our jobs just a little more difficult – and when it does, we can really use your help.
To assist us in keeping our promise of safe, reliable heating fuel deliveries this winter, please remember to do these four things on the day of our visit:
- Clear and mark your driveway. One of your biggest impediments to getting to your fill pipe or propane tank is having to guide our fuel trucks on steep or snowed-in driveways. In fact, safety codes prohibit us from parking a fuel truck on an incline unless it is clear of snow and ice and wheel chocks (the wedges we put under the tires so the truck doesn’t roll back) can be applied safely. Please clear your driveway – neither you nor we want us to show up at your house only learn we can’t deliver your fuel! Mark your driveway, too – that way we know where it ends in the event snow is too deep to see its borders.
- Shovel a path to your heating oil fill pipe or propane tank. Try to clear at least a one foot wide path to your tank or fill pipe. It’s a good idea to place a high, sturdy flag pole near your outdoor tank before a storm hits in case your tank gets buried under snow.
- Keep gates unlocked and pets under control on delivery day. We want to keep our crews safe so they can make it to their next delivery destination!
- Call for a fuel delivery when your tank gauge reaches no lower than 25 percent. Winter in Maine can be unpredictable, so don’t wait until the last minute for your heating oil or propane delivery. The fewer emergency fill-ups we have, the more we can keep our schedule for everyone – including you.
Thank you for helping us to keep our promise of safe, on-time delivery. Our drivers appreciate your consideration!
